Become a greener school with ParentMail
Many schools regularly raise awareness of global environmental issues and try to promote living “greener lives” to their students. From learning about recycling to promoting “walk to school week”, we’re all aware of the need to do our bit to help save the planet.
But how can your school contribute further to becoming environmentally friendly? Many schools are already doing it and may not even realise….
During May for example, schools sent 15 million emails home to parents digitally through ParentMail – that’s at least 12.5 million pieces of paper that were saved. Add to that a further 3 million text messages that were also sent, and you’re well on the way to saving several trees! That’s not taking into account the amount of attachments, permission forms, parents’ evening slips and more that would usually be put into a school bag and never even make it home.
During May, April and March combined, schools sent out 40 million messages electronically to parents. So it’s fair to say in a year, schools using ParentMail are saving at least 144 million sheets of paper. We’ve gone from saving a few trees, to saving a small forest!
Not only are these schools contributing to a greener planet, they’re also making cost savings each month of £50,000 – £100,000 – eliminating the need for paper, printing, photocopying and posting letters home.
If all that wasn’t enough, schools are also finding that sending information home to parents digitally means that it’s far more likely to get read, and responses to forms, permissions and surveys are far higher when they can complete them from an App on their smartphone.
